Work Note:
The Timeless suits were the capstone of the exhibit with the opening night being a fashion show debuting the designs. This was a moment to make a unique 1-of-1 wearable art piece in the physical world that would then be photographed, converting it into a digital image that would then be the cover of the Volume 40 magazine releasing in March 2026. So going from physical art to digital photo back to physical magazine and keeping the link between them all.
These timeless suits were inspired by the original cover of the 3vies magazine Volume 30 released in 2016. We created an Ombre with our hair color. I was going for a similar effect with the brand blue color in the suits and having a pattern that connects when we are all together. I wanted each suit to be a 1 of 1 piece of art. We collaborated with Limatus Bespoke (who was also part of the “people who inspire me series”) so each even base level the suits are custom and then hand painting them made it so unique. Truthfully they turned out even better than I imagined.
This project was a chance to help my children identify with their creative center and build their confidence to trust their own creative inspirations. I believe it will be a tool that will guide them in their long and creative life ahead. Each person hand painted their own suit to allow a personal closeness with the work we wear. We had been planning and talking about this project for 3 years prior which is another lesson I wanted my children to experience. Having an idea and allowing it to develop over time into something beyond just you.
