Change, Rhythms and Feedback loops

One of the biggest challenges for any human or company is learning how to effectively update their belief system. It's learning to introduce tiny new concepts and finding new paths. Change is a daily occurrence for those seeking progress.

Creating the life you want takes an exceptional blend of delusion and practicality. And it's not a fixed percentage. That balance is continually recalculated depending on the situation. It requires intuition to realize which to implore at any given time.

Change

The first step in anything life-changing is becoming aware of one's desire to change. Next is transitioning that desire into actions and feedback loops—which can start small. Then, consistent action over time. In short, this is reorienting people on how to alter their decision-making process. Change is simple updates to our personal belief system, which is the foundation for how we make decisions. However, updates often occur when we challenge assumptions that form our beliefs, or we acquire new data that challenges them. This is why understanding the feedback loop is so vital. It's the process we use to update our thinking.

Feedback Loops

I will use the illustration on the next page as a visual to walk through it. Let's start with observations. Observations lead to thoughts and ideas, which then lead to actions. The completion of the action is the outcome. Next, this is the most vital part of everything, analyzing. To progress, you must improve your analysis of your actions, outcomes, and thoughts. That is where most critical connections form for updating your life. So, after you analyze the outcome or thought, your mind updates your belief system based on that analysis.

Now, we get to the dotted lines. Sometimes, the analysis generates discrepancies with your belief system, materializing into new thoughts, ideas, or questions—taking that dotted line number one from the updated beliefs box to the thought box. Those ideas can lead to action or connect with previous ideas and form a new concept, taking the dotted line number two to be analyzed. That analysis could then update the belief system, or if the updated concept still requires action, it's returned to the thought box on dotted line number three to finish the experiment. This process is one type of rhythm we each create in our life.

Rhythms

Rhythms are rituals or actions we repeatedly perform. They are often called routines and can become part of the invisible walls I've been discussing throughout the magazine. Another reason to continually challenge our beliefs is to realize some beliefs were borrowed assumptions from others or from our past selves that may no longer serve us. Updating them allows us to make room for growth.

Rhythms are actions we take in our lives to create desired outcomes. If you don't know what outcomes you want or goals you are working toward, pause and dig deeper into yourself to become aware of your heart's desire. Your inner voice already knows what you are looking for.

My methodology in my creative work is constant creation with waves or seasons of curation. I need the continual creation and action to help me subconsciously work out the epics of my work. It's the same basis for uncovering originality. You gain your voice by opening yourself up to many different voices from which to pull inspiration. These open additional parts of you, crafting your unique perspective/belief system. You are a collection of the voices you experience.

Also, be willing to let your subconscious do the heavy lifting. Not everything needs to make sense now. Let yourself experience it now. Trust that your investments in discovering yourself will refine your taste over time. That will uncover the deep connections between your work and personal/professional pursuits.

Remember to go slow and find a rhythm of life that works for you, and then be open to altering it. Find ways to always introduce a little newness into your rhythm. It will make your journey sustainable.

In closing, when you are confident in who you are, other people's greatness does not threaten you. You welcome it and celebrate it because you know there is always room for more greatness to rise. I don't understand how I developed this unbelievable mindset, but fuck it feels great to wake up and be me for another day.
